Leading People, Shaping Systems & Building Genuine Connection

MY archetype branding system:
THE BRANDIMALS©
I've developed my own approach to brand strategy, including an original archetype system and the Brandimals©, a cast of character-led brand personalities designed to turn strategy into something tangible, memorable and distinctly unique.
Lead by their CEO (Chief Energy Officer) Ryder Roo, The Brandimals© help me build bold, authentic brands. With their distinct personalities, each of my creative critters plays their own role in the Brandimals Agency (aka my Archetype Toolkit).
ABOUT THE BRANDIMALS©
An original brand archetype system for making strategy human(ish), memorable and a little more fun.
Most brand strategy starts with words: Vision. Mission. Values. Personality.
Useful, certainly. But often a little abstract. I wanted to create something that could bring those ideas to life, so I developed The Brandimals©: an original system of character-led brand personalities built from a combination of established archetypal psychology, strategic brand thinking and my own creative interpretation.
Each Brandimal© represents a distinctive blend of personality traits, motivations, behaviours and ways of showing up in the world. The result is a visual language for something that is otherwise difficult to articulate: what a brand feels like to be around.
the idea:
What if your brand had a personality you could actually meet?
Archetypes are powerful because they help us understand the deeper motivations behind a brand, however simply telling a client that their brand is a Hero, Sage or Everyman doesn't necessarily make that strategy easy to understand or apply. I wanted to bridge that gap.
The Brandimals© were created to turn an abstract strategic concept into something visual, tangible, relatable and memorable. Instead of asking a business to imagine what a particular combination of archetypes might look and sound like, I created characters that embody those qualities.
Each Brandimal© has its own personality, energy and role. Together, they form a practical creative tool that can help translate strategy into decisions about identity, tone of voice, content, storytelling and audience experience.

the SYSTEM:
Twelve characters. Twelve distinct ways of showing up.
The Brandimals© aren't simply animals assigned to personality types. Each character is built around an archetype mix, creating a more nuanced personality than a single archetype can provide. That matters because brands, like people, rarely fit neatly into one box.
A brand might be courageous and aspirational, but also warm and approachable. It might be knowledgeable without feeling corporate. It might be rebellious while still being deeply community-minded. The Brandimals© give those combinations a personality.
Each character has:
A primary personality - The dominant energy that shapes how the brand naturally shows up.
A supporting archetype mix - The complementary traits that add nuance and depth.
A distinctive character - A visual and emotional shorthand that makes the strategy easier to understand and remember.
A role within the brand world - A clear sense of how that personality behaves, communicates and connects with its audience.
FROM STRATEGY TO PERSONALITY:
Turning an archetype into something you can actually use.
The real value of the Brandimals© isn't the character itself, it's what happens after the character has been created.
Once a brand's personality has been identified, the Brandimal© becomes a creative reference point for translating strategy into tangible brand decisions.
Strategy
What does the brand believe?
What motivates it?
What does it stand for?
How does it want to make people feel?
Personality
How does that personality behave?
What are its natural strengths?
What might it avoid?
How does it build relationships?
Expression
How does it speak?
What does it look like?
What kind of stories does it tell?
What content feels natural to it?
Experience
How does that personality show up across every touchpoint?
The Brandimal© becomes a kind of creative north star. It gives designers, writers, marketers and business owners a shared language for making decisions. Instead of asking, "Does this feel on-brand?", you have a much more useful question:
"Would our Brandimal© do this?"
WHY I CREATED THEM:
Because strategy shouldn't have to live in a PDF.
I've always been interested in the space where strategy meets creativity. The best brand strategy isn't something that gets written, approved and filed away. It should influence the way a brand looks, sounds, behaves, creates content and connects with people.
The Brandimals© were my way of making that connection more tangible. They combine strategic thinking with storytelling, psychology with creativity, and structure with personality. Most importantly, they give people something they can see, understand and remember.
That's what I love about creative strategy. You can take something complicated and make it feel simple. You can turn an idea into a personality. And sometimes, the best way to make a brand unforgettable is to give it a face.
Welcome to the world of The Brandimals©.
